Opening up to the sunshine

On Saturday we walked at Puttenham and the first of the heather is coming into bloom. The sun was shining and there were clouds of Common Blue Butterflies (Polyommatus icarus) fluttering above the heather. They frequently alight to sun themselves and I got a few shots of this lovely male enjoying the sunshine.

Edited to add:
I have now discovered that this is not, in fact, a Common Blue, but a Silver Studded Blue (Plebejus argus), one of our rarest butterflies. Lots more about this fascinating butterfly here.
