You ain’t seen me, right!
Much more delicate than the Broad Bodied Chaser of my last post – this little fella is a Large Red Damselfly. He’s not actually large at all, but he is very pretty. They are one of the most common dragon/damsel visitors to garden ponds, and were the first to breed here after we created the pond. Damsels can be distinguished from dragons by their much more slender bodies, and their wing position at rest – damsels hold their wings up, like a butterfly, whilst dragons hold theirs to the side, like moths.
