New beech and spalted wood

I love love love the new beech leaves; such a soft, vibrant green, they epitomise spring for me. The beech timber is ‘spalted’ – the interesting black lines are formed by fungal infection during the tree’s life. Spalted timber is particularly prized by woodworkers for making furniture/bowls/chopping boards etc.
