A splash of colour in the grey
New Year’s Day was gorgeous (I’ve got some pics from that day for another post), but since then it’s been grey grey grey. Mild and dry though, so can’t complain too much. In the bleak midwinter, you have to look a little harder to see the colour. It’s still there though… take these lichens for instance
This moss was such a vivid green that it rivals May leaves for vibrancy
Growth might be dormant at the moment, but it’s all there, ready to burst out when the time is right…
Finally, not everything has to be colourful to be beautiful…
Wow that tree moss practically glows. Cool shots Lucy!
Thanks Phil!
Great photos. I went to the Veolia wildlife photographer of the year at the Natural History Museum yesterday – last fling before the ferry back. Really enjoyed it.
Ooh I bet there were some fantastic images there! Considering we’re so near London it’s ridiculous that I haven’t been into the centre for about two years. I should go up for a day and visit some exhibitions.
We made a day of it and did the Pre-Raphaelites too and dinner in the evening. When you live nearby you always put it off.
You’re right about putting it off! Sounds like a lovely day you had. 🙂
Not just bark makes great paintings. At the end of the week Netherlands gets freezing weather.
I do love lichen – they are so beautiful when you look closely. I think our weather will change this week too Charles – from mild and grey to cold and clear. I’m looking forward to it!
