Green Sussex fading into blue with one grey glimpse of sea.
Tennyson wrote of Black Down (where he lived)…
‘You came and looked and loved the view, long known and loved by me, Green Sussex fading into blue with one grey glimpse of sea.’
If you look closely on the horizon, right in the middle of the photograph, you can see the glimpse of sea he was talking about. It wasn’t grey yesterday though, but bright white with the glinting of the sun on the water.
