Halloween greetings from a very artistic slug.
It was a bit of a gloomy afternoon yesterday; grey and damp. We walked in the woods at Puttenham, hoping to see some fungi, as the weather has been wet lately. There wasn’t a great variety of mushrooms, but we did see this fabulous Amanita muscaria making a scary halloween face at us. I love its sharp teeth. Many thanks to the artistic slug whose greedy jaws created such a seasonal masterpiece!
The gloominess of the afternoon was rather atmospheric, in a gothic sort of way, with trees cloaked in shaggy moss, and an ivy framed heart etched into the silver bark of an old birch. Interesting that the initials seems to have been scratched out; the romance obviously didn’t last as long as the carving has. Here are some pictures for a halloween afternoon.
